Have you had a chance to review Seaweed Dryers Market Research, published in January 2025?

    Read the full report here.

This report provides a review of core drying technologies, puts them in context of the Alaskan seaweed farming industry, provides evaluation criteria, and links and resources to support decision making. Do you have first hand experience with seaweed dryers? What additional insights would you share with farmers and entrepreneurs exploring drying technologies?

@kendall_barbery This is a great landscape, and the list of questions processors should work through upfront is really helpful to avoid pitfalls. Facilities requirements in addition to the dryer format and cost is important to pay close attention to, particularly in terms of footprint since many of these systems require permanent installation. The report also keenly emphasizes that not all kelps behave the same way when being processed, so even when a system has been proven in another geography or with a similar species processors need to be prepared to make process adjustments and mechanical modifications in order to get things up an running, and should budget time and resources for technicians to make that happen.

@karlotta_rieve781 What drying technologies are proving successful in Europe? What other observations might you be able to share from an international context?
