The Ocean Farming Hub Community is a place for aspiring and experienced farmers and hatchery technicians to build a network among fellow farmers and find answers to technical questions. It is a place to give and receive support, innovate, and share the latest news about industry advancements.

By joining this community, you agree to:

Be inclusive - We’re all trying to make a living through ocean farming, and the more supportive we are of each other the more markets and opportunities there will be for all of us. We all received support when we were starting out, so be inclusive and help both new and experienced farmers alike. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Respect one another - We value diverse opinions, perspectives, and experiences and ask that you respect others even if you disagree with them. We hope to promote a space where we can all feel comfortable asking questions, participating in discussions, and making contributions.

Personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, and discrimination of any kind is not tolerated and will result in the suspension or deletion of your community account. You can read more about our rules of conduct in our Terms of Use.

Speak from your own experience - Your participation in the community should be relevant and based on your own honest opinions and lived experience as aspiring or active ocean farmers. Try to keep the conversation on the topic of ocean farming.

When posting, post your question to the most relevant community channel topic. Duplicate posts or cross-posts across topics will be removed.

Be honest -  This is a new industry and we’re all learning and experimenting. Don’t purposefully share false or misleading information. If you realize you posted something incorrect by accident, you can either edit the post yourself or let us know and we can help you revise or remove it.

Focus on advancing the conversation, not your own business interests -  The community is intended to be a place for the exchange of ideas, not to market/sell services, products, or other goods. While we don’t endorse marketing/selling in the community we do support finding what you need (gear, information, people, etc.) and celebrating your successes. This content belongs in the Bulletin Board topic. GreenWave reserves the right to remove posts deemed as excessive self promotion/spamming.

Don’t solicit private investments – We encourage users to share broad funding opportunities that could benefit lots of farmers (grants, USDA initiatives, small business loans, etc.) but we ask that you do not share private investment opportunities (kickstarters, gofundme, or offers to “fund a farm.”) GreenWave cannot vet individual funders and does not give financial advice. However, we do encourage users to talk about fundraising and get advice on how others have raised the capital to start their farms.

What happens when these guidelines are broken?

If GreenWave or a community member identifies an issue, we may delete the comment or post at our discretion, without notice. We operate under a three-strike policy. While the first two offenses will receive a warning, the third may result in the suspension or deletion of your community account. Any issues related to hate speech or discrimination will result in an immediate suspension or deletion of your community account.

If you think someone has broken our Community Guidelines or if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact us at support@greenwave.org.

Note that these rules don’t encompass everything in our Terms of Use or our Privacy Policy which always apply.
