Hey Northeast Kelp Researchers! Looking for a partner farm?
-
Hey Y'all,
The Northeast SARE Partnership Program recently opened its call for 2024 grant proposals. This year, there is $750k available to researchers, educators and agricultural service providers working in direct partnership with farmers.
The program encourages design and implementation of innovative solutions to current sustainability challenges related to production, marketing and/or household and community well-being in Northeast farming and food systems.
I will have several 0.25ac research plots available on my permitted farm in Massachusetts for the 2024-2025 kelp growing season. If you're in need of a working farm to test and validate your research, I encourage you to reach out. All proposals will be reviewed for feasibility, operating complexity, and environmental impact.
Check out the Partnership Grant Program 2024 Call for Proposals, deadline is April 9, 2024 so don't delay!
I would love to hear from you.
Thanks, John

@john_Lovett are you already connected with Emma Cross at SCSU in New Haven, CT? Her lab has been working with other kelp farmers in southern New England, including at least one in MA. May be worth connecting.
@scott_lindell perhaps also of interest?
@kendall_barbery thanks for the response!
I’m definitely in touch with Scott, but I will reach out to Emma. Thanks for the tip.
Cheers,
John
