Hi! My name is James Jeffrey. I'm from Long Island, NY. Grew up in the Peconic Bay. Currently live in NYC. I'm very interested to see the how the industry evolves here in New York.
Was sucked into a podcast featuring Bren Smith a couple years back and haven't been able to shake it from my head. So, new to aquaculture but learning!
I'm enrolled and actively participating in the GreenWave January 2023 online course. Soaking up as much as I can, and would like to gain as much hands-on experience as I can. In any capacity!
I'm currently a self-employed technology consultant - focused on design, storytelling, data analysis and visualization. I see an opportunity to use these skills on the business-side while I cultivate my interest building new skills on the farming-side. I feel a hands-on approach is the only way to properly validate my interest in getting more involved and possibly operating an ocean farm down the road.
Would love to connect with others in the area (and elsewhere). I'll be searching but welcome any tips on opportunities to get my hands dirty! I have the time to dedicate to volunteer positions, apprenticeships, just helping out...
