Hi, I'm Cliff Goudey and I'm pretty psyched about the future of seaweed farming.
-
I'm an engineer and have been fussing around with things in the ocean for too many decades to count. My roots are in fisheries, aquaculture, and underwater technologies but my present focus is on developing the systems and components needed to take seaweed farming to the next level. I'm currently involved in two large project, one in Kodiak and one in Puerto Rico, aimed at developing commercial-scale farm systems and methods. That experience has been helpful in developing custom-designed farms that offer advantages to the farmer from productivity and reliability perspectives.
There's a lot of overlap between fishing and seaweed farming that make this new sector an attractive direction to pivot. There is also some overlap in the area of gear but I also see the need for specialized components.
I'm looking forward to hearing from those with an interest in and questions about seaweed farms and how together we can advance the state of the art. Check out: https://www.tendocean.com/
@clifford_goudey - Thanks for joining the conversation, Cliff! You can read more about the impressive engineering work Cliff has done for the seaweed farming industry, including designing the catenary array system, in the Lesson on Advanced Design in the course on Farm Design.
