When I first entered the aquaculture industry, I was very shellfish focused – I studied the ecosystem services of bivalves in grad school, worked as a farm hand on one of the largest, east coast oyster farms and took over a small oyster farm in Noank CT with my husband.
Always intrigued by kelp, I was happy to join the GreenWave team in 2018. In my position here, I support kelp growth in our hatchery, assist in the management of research-orientated collaborations and help with the monitoring and maintenance of our ocean farm in the Thimble Islands.
The best part of my job is supporting new hatcheries in learning the ins and outs of kelp cultivation – I love seeing others get excited at their first glimpse of a mini kelp blade under the microscope!
