School groups wanting to learn about kelp

Hi fellow farmers - Getting lots of requests from schools - public, private, K-12 - to share anything from an individual lecture to a semester-long type program about kelp, the industry, enviro benefits, etc. It's too much for one farmer - Wondering if GreenWave or others have a curriculum they developed already or have done these? Maybe GW and other interested farmers can apply for a grant to shape a curriculum that we can all use and just tailor it to our respective state as needed? I feel bad saying no to these teachers and groups. Welcome ideas! Azure

@azure_cygler Hi Azure! I like this idea a lot. To essentially arm farmers with the tools for community outreach and education? Sounds like a great initiative. What specifically would be most helpful? Lesson plans? Powerpoint templates? Activities?
In the short term, you're welcome to share the Hub content to anyone it might be applicable and useful for. I might also suggest checking out the Algae Academy, a free STEM course for K-12 students and teachers, that comes with prebuilt lessons and activities. @ira_levine Has been instrumental in building out this course for younger students. Additionally, his program ACES has macro and micro algae curriculums for older / adult audiences. Beyond the Hub, this could be another place to send educators.

@azure_cygler Soundwaters have a farm site in the western Sound that they have incorporated into their educational/environmental programming. Not sure if they have resources to share, but connecting with @michael_bagley at Soundwaters might be worthwhile.

    Thanks @kendall_barbery!
Hi @azure_cygler ! As Kendall indicated we have a small farm off of Stamford that we are developing specifically to use as an education resource and field study site for students. We haven't developed materials per se that we could share with classroom educators, but we would be happy to be part of a conversation about how to use kelp farming as a teaching tool for schools.
