Review of available research on iodine in brown algae

Researchers from the IMR and Nofima looked into the data currently available on iodine in brown algae, including research on processing techniques and bioavailability. However, there may be differences between organic and inorganic iodine and researchers have started a study to provide more information on this topic. Lastly, research points to different processing techniques that have the potential to eliminate some iodine, such as boiling and blanching, but more research is needed since results vary on how much iodine is eliminated.
