Needing advice for cultivating Gracilaria parvispora (Ogo) in aquariums
-
Hello community!
It is incredible to find this hub of sea farmers. I am a microalgae cultivation student who is crossing over into the world of macroalgae for an inland experiment. In New Mexico, USA, we have brackish aquifers that are perfect for growing seaweed. My project is aimed at growing Gracilaria parvispora, but I have been unsuccessful at growing it in Instant Ocean imitation seawater aquariums so far as a "control group" experiment. If there is anyone out there in the community who cultivates Gracilaria or any other red macroalgae, I would absolutely love to chat and receive some advice for this project. Thank you so much ahead of time!
Best,

@kalindi_stowell Hi Kalindi!
While I only have hands on experience with growing sugar kelp, one of my go to manuals is CT Sea Grant's New England Seaweed Culture Handbook.
Chapt 4 of this manual talks about Gracilaria cultivation -- hopefully you can find some tips & tricks there!
