How much kelp can fit in 50lbs fish boxes?

Question: Have you tried shipping fresh or frozen kelp in 50 lbs. fish boxes? We are considering this option and are curious how much kelp can fit in them.

Answer: GreenWave hasn't tried shipping fresh or frozen kelp in 50 lb. fish boxes, but for storage you have two options: 

For fresh kelp, you would almost certainly want to line the box with some kind of plastic bag, ideally one specifically designed for the respiration rate of kelp.

As for frozen, in the past GreenWave had a stash of 12ea 5 lb. bags and 4ea 1 lb. bags (so, 68 lbs total), and those collectively fit into a space that was approximately 24" x 18" x 17" (4.25 cubic feet).
