Sustainable harvest bags
-
Nice writeup about Ocean Farms Supply, a company in Maine making mesh oyster (and kelp!) bags out of sustainably harvested beechwood. Congrats @erin_adams! Curious if anyone has used other non-plastic alternatives for packaging their kelp.
@lindsay_olsen - We offer dried kelp in compostable kraft bags which are purchased through amazon. Most of these bags need to be composted in a municipal facility which makes them less likely to wind up composted in my opinion.
Better packaging solutions are needed (ideas welcome) so I would love to hear other ideas out there!
@suzie_flores -Hi Suzie, what dimensions are the kraft bags that you are using?
@suzie_flores - I recently came across this Sustainable Packaging Guide. It's meant for CPG companies, but has some helpful info and a list of potential suppliers at the bottom. If you end up looking into any of this, keep us posted!
@lindsay_olsen -Thank you very much for sharing!
