Nitrogen credits seem like a promising revenue stream for kelp farms, but I'm not sure how established they are or will be. I know there's a Connecticut Nitrogen Trading program -- does anyone know of similar programs in other states or internationally?
@anthony_zhou - Hi Anthony, Maryland has a nutrient credit trading program that oyster farmers in the Chesapeake Bay are now eligible for. Below is a link to a good recent paper in the Journal of Shellfish Research that discusses the potential Nitrogen removal by oyster farms in the Chesapeake, along with an economic analysis of the value of the nitrogen removed.
