Caribbean Mariculture Practitioner Seeking Florida-Based Collaboration
-
Hi everyone,
I’m Ashley, a Caribbean-based practitioner working across St. Vincent & the Grenadines and the wider region in sea moss development and community-based livelihood systems.
My work has focused on building practical, on-the-ground models that move beyond training into consistent production, value-added processing, and income generation, particularly within small island contexts.
I’m currently exploring opportunities to collaborate in the Florida region around mariculture, specifically the cultivation of Eucheuma cottonii and related value chains, while fully respecting local regulatory frameworks and environmental considerations.
I’m interested in connecting with:
• Marine farmers and researchers
• Permitting and regulatory advisors
• Entrepreneurs exploring seaweed-based products
• Organizations supporting sustainable ocean farming
My goal is to build a compliant, scalable model that integrates production, processing, and market pathways, drawing on lessons learned from Caribbean implementation.
Open to collaboration, pilot initiatives, or strategic partnerships.
Happy to connect.

@craig_lewis Hi Craig, thanks for reaching out. Appreciate the connection and I’m interested in learning more about your model and how you’re approaching production, permitting and farmer support. I’ll review your materials and we can connect once I have a clearer picture of where collaboration makes sense.

Hope that helps and lots of luck!
@jwhis Thanks so much, I appreciate this. I’ll review the webinar and search the Hub discussions on Florida. Always open to connecting with practitioners working in compliant tropical seaweed systems.
