Alginates 101
-
MacroOceans just launched a partnership with Socius Ingredients to bring sustainable alginates to the U.S. market. As a part of the launch, Colin Hepburn created primer on alginates and their importance as emulsifiers and fillers in clean-label food products. @kendall_barbery Neat. Do we know how they source the seaweed?
@jonathan_mcgee I missed your reply back in July.
MacroOceans sources from kelp farmers in Kodiak, Alaska among other locations. Their website maintains says they have a "Fully domestic supply chain, sourced from independent family farms in Alaska." (link here)

Thank you Kendall! I should have noticed the website details - but so glad to see US Kelp demand growing!
Best of luck on the collab project - kinda jealous we're not in that space but cheering from the sidelines and looking forward to supporting the work.
