Hi everyone! Excited to be here!
-
Hey folks! I'm Lyndsay. I'm currrently a marine biology student at the University of Victoria in BC, Canada and am Haisla, originally from Kitimat BC and Kitamaat Village. I found Green Wave while doing some research for a paper last year and couldn't get it off my mind. In my classes I hear a lot about the state of the world, and local solutions, and I think that regenerative ocean farming is a fantastic way to sustainably produce food and other products. This and other research eventually led me to decide to start my own ocean farm. I see seaweed, with its many applications, as a versatile resource in high demand in the near future.
I'm only 22, but have big ambitions and hopes for the future. This hub is a huge deal to me as it makes my vision a whole lot more attainable.
Looking forward to getting to know and collaborating with the community!
@lyndsay_silvestre -Welcome Lyndsay! Thanks for tuning in and for your interest. There is a lot happening in BC right now! It's an exciting place to be, and a region that we think has a lot of potential for the seaweed farming industry. There seems to be strong Indigenous leadership from the First Nations peoples in engaging with the industry and creating and running Native-owned farms, which is essential. Let us know if we can help out on your journey!
