How to prevent kelp loss on growlines!

As farmers we work so hard to outplant the kelp and we want to do everything we can to prevent seed loss on growlines.

In the first photo you can see is an example of where the seed string separated from the growline. When the seed is up against the growline the kelp is able to transfer from the small seed string to the 1/2" line. This secures the kelp and prevents it from falling off. If there is a large gap between the seed string and the growline, the kelp is more likely to fall off or cause more seed string to break down the line.

In the second photo you can see how I used rubber tubing to tie up the fallen seed string. As the kelp grows bigger it will be able to transfer onto that growline and have a better connection.
