Investor wanting to know about the kelp farming space
-
Greetings everyone!
I'm new to this space and I want to understand the whole process better. Ultimately, I want to raise capital and invest in whatever areas of the regenerative ocean farming process need it the most. What I'm looking for are choke points or stages in your seed-to-market process that are holding you back. In terms of infrastructure, what would you like to see more of?
Any help in this space would be greatly appreciated!
@will_hudson good place to start to get up to speed on the seaweed space would be to take a look at phyconomy. Lots of details on the site and also a regular newsletter that comes out.
@will_hudson processing and storage (cold) is an issue in southern New England.
@will_hudson Hi Will, all sectors could use help but one that is particularly important to me (I'll have my first crop in next Spring) is creating more demand for seaweed based or infused products in the "regular" grocery store. Companies like Sea Grove, Akua, Barnacle, etc are doing great things and there is great press coming from the NYT, Bon Appetite, etc. but the corner has not yet been turned in terms of making seaweed products more accessible and more palatable to the general public. I believe it's happening but investing to make it happen more quickly and more broadly would be something to look into. Just my 2 cents
