Have you taken a look at the Leasing and Permitting section of the courses on the Hub? You can use the dropdown on that page to select Massachusetts for a lot of up-to-date state-specific information!
@hilary_davis -Hi Hilary, what areas specifically are you interested in? Permitting can be hard on the North Shore due to the presence of North Atlantic Right whales. At WHOI we are experimenting with farms that are on the bottom and have not surface expression (no vertical lines).
@hilary_davis - This info is also linked out through the farm design tool in this Hub (if you select MA as your state in the intro questionnaire), but MA has a great aquaculture permitting portal! And, in addition to Dave at WHOI, you should connect with MA Sea Grant folks--particularly Josh Reitsma, the Marine Program Specialist at the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension. Josh is also a part of the Sea Grant Seaweed Hub leadership team.
