Alaska Salmon Job (Yes, it relates to kelp!)

I have an opening for one person to learn or enhance small boat skills, knot-tying, using and setting anchors, reading wind, waves, tides and currents - all skills needed for kelp farming - while working a summer job as a crew member for the summer salmon setnet season on the remote west side of Kodiak Island, Alaska. We use the same boats, lines, knots, anchors, and buoys as those used in our kelp farm (Alaskan Sea Greens), but instead we are using set gillnets to harvest all 5 species of wild and sustainable Alaska salmon while living in little cabins on the beach. No experience necessary - I invite athletic, open-minded people who enjoy working hard in a beautiful wild setting as part of a tight-knit team of 3 to apply. We do this for the lifestyle and love what we do! Dates are early July through early-mid September but I am somewhat flexible so don't hesitate to be in touch if you have a different window of availability. Compensation is 9% of the gross plus free room and board (including delicious garden greens we grow and as much salmon as you can eat!) and a bonus for completing the close-up at end of season. Position is open until filled. Please email me for much more information and/or to apply: adelia.myrick1@gmail.com
