Ocean Farming Canada / Costa Rica

    Hi there,

    My background is in ad-tech startups, where optimizing processes for scale is an inherent part of the industry. The impact of wildfires on the west coast and last year's heatwave that ripped through British Columbia triggered a research period, where I inquire about ways to put my energy and network connections to work for a project that increases biodiversity and reduces emissions.

    Navigating lease applications in British Columbia (Canada) turns out to be a difficult multi-year endeavour, as no operational procedure is in place and requires the involvement of multiple governmental stakeholders. So I currently vet options here and in Costa Rica.

    @rajko_dikmann -

    Hey Rajko!

    The lease application does indeed look daunting and is indistinct from the shellfish app!

    I am also from the west coast and am currently investigating the purchase of an existing lease. Seems like the easier thing to do.

    I am curious if you are aware of any new leases going in?

    @jeremiah_sand - Hi Jeremiah,

    Not that I am aware of. But my eyes are mainly on the Central America region these days, and I am out of the country until mid July. So I wouldn't take my word for it. In any event, it would be great to hear how your journey continues and share information on the way.

    Are you ever in the Vancouver region?

    @rajko_dikmann ...Greetings, I saw your post about Costa Rica and wondered if you're still investigating that? I'm interested and somewhat set up on the central Pacific coast (Uvita area). I'd be interested in what you've found out.
    Cheers,
    Kim
