How Much Kelp Can You Grow?

The level of profit your farm can make is directly tied to two things: the amount of kelp you produce and the price you can get for it.

To figure out how much kelp your farm can produce, multiply the number of feet of line you will plant by the estimated pounds of kelp you expect to grow per foot. There’s no way to know what this number will be for sure until after your first experimental growing season, so err on the side of caution, and estimate lower rather than higher. Your total growth could range anywhere from 1-10 pounds per foot, regardless of geographic location. A conservative average for most farmers is 4 pounds per foot. If you want to be even more conservative, you can decrease this number to account for losses that might occur as a result of improper post-harvest handling, line breakage, or simply not being able to get it all out of the water in time.

Your revenue potential is directly related to how much kelp you can produce.
