Anchor to Chain

At the bottom of the system on the seafloor, you have the anchor.

Here is where you might choose to use chain to connect from the anchor itself to the anchor line. This is typically recommended in areas with high tidal fluctuation to help keep the system under tension. Using chain can also prevent your anchor line from chafing on the bottom. The chain is connected to the anchor itself by a shackle. If you plan to use chain at the base of your system, it’s recommended that the chain make up 10% of the total distance of your anchor rode, or total scope.
