Configure Your Tanks

Once you’re happy with the layout of your hatchery, it’s time to build out your tank system. To do this, you’ll need your tanks, pumps, chillers, and the necessary plumbing to support water flow and circulation between them. This is where your blueprints come in handy. You’ll likely buy your plumbing material in bulk, and will need to cut it to size. Put your pumps, chillers, aeration tubes, etc in the proper location, and double-check that your measurements are correct before making any final cuts.

Pumps are used to recirculate the water from your tanks to your chiller.
Your tanks hold a lot of weight. Make sure they are well supported by your system.

Important Note

If you need pumps to move/circulate your water, think about where to put them. Placing pumps inside your tank will prevent the need for priming – which is the introduction of water into the piping to rid the system of air and allow for proper water flow. However, this can crowd your tanks and may reduce the number of spools you can fit.
