Option to Repackage Sorus Tissue

If you are not seeing a good spore release under the microscope, it’s possible the sori might not have been ready to release yet, and you may have to wait longer. To do this, pat each piece of the sori dry, rewrap them in damp paper towels, and store them in the refrigerator overnight again. It is best to dry these pieces as quickly as possible, because although it may be minimal, the tissue can still be releasing spores for as long as it is wet.

If you don’t see a good spore release, it’s possible to dry and repackage your sorus tissue and try again the next day.

GreenWave Tip

GreenWave sometimes uses the same sorus tissue for seeding 3 days in a row, and we often see a peak release of spores on day two or three. If you reuse your sorus tissue, follow the same steps outlined.
