Check and Adjust Water Levels

With pumps and chillers operating, water circulating within tanks, and a lot of general activity happening in a hatchery, you may run into the occasional situation where water overflows or a tank leaks. As you walk around and take a look at your tanks every day, be sure to note the water levels. Make sure no tanks are overflowing or that no water levels are sitting too low. If you do notice a tank that has spools with seed string exposed, top off the tank with chilled, filtered seawater.

Siphons can sometimes cause uneven water levels. Check to make sure your spools are all fully submerged.

GreenWave Tip

It’s always a good practice to keep a few gallons of filtered seawater in the fridge to have on hand for topping off tanks.
