What you'll learn

The harvest season is short; it pays to be prepared. In this course, we’ll outline different logistical considerations you’ll need to take into account during the winter months: a food safety plan, choosing and ordering harvest equipment, and configuring your boat. Then we’ll take you on a tour of a variety of different harvesting setups on farms across the country and discuss techniques for maintaining quality while maximizing efficiency during harvest. Finally, we’ll discuss post-harvest handling guidelines to preserve the quality of your kelp in the final stages before it’s delivered to your buyer.
