Spoolerator

One tool that will make your life a lot easier in preparing for the hatchery season is what we call a spoolerator. Before the season starts, spools need to be wrapped with seed string. The spools can be wrapped by hand, but it’s an extremely time consuming task.

There are a couple of ways to configure a mechanical device that can quickly wrap spools in just a couple of minutes. One is by attaching a paint roller to a hand power drill. Slide the spool over the paint roller, and guide the string evenly onto the spool as it wraps.

Before a spoolerator was added to the GreenWave farm, spools were wound by hand, an extremely time-consuming task.

It’s possible to wind seed spools using a hand drill and paint roller.
