After you’ve connected the bones of the 5-line array with the anchoring system on either end, you’ll want to go back and string the remaining 3 center growlines. Use the outermost growlines of the array to pull yourself down the system and pay out the remaining lines.
Similar to when you had to relieve tension from the system to connect your second end spreader bar to your second anchor, you may find you have to relieve tension from the system to connect your remaining 3 growlines with the opposite spreader.
Use a Come Along
To relieve tension from the 5-line array system so that you’re able to connect and disconnect your growlines, we recommend using a rope puller or come along. This is an inexpensive and powerful tool that can be used to take tension out of a system at a localized point, so you can connect and disconnect your growlines. We use this tool when deploying our growlines and when detaching and reattaching the growlines for outplanting.

A low-tech alternative is to use a tensioning knot like a trucker’s hitch to relieve enough tension to unclip and re-attach the c-links. However, this will not give you as much power or mechanical advantage as a come along.
