Seeking an internship opportunity for the full month of August 2026
As a second-year Aquaculture student at Bellingham Technical College, I am deeply passionate about algae production and its essential role in supporting healthy, productive hatchery systems. My coursework has given me strong foundational knowledge in seaweed and microalgae culturing, water quality management, and integrated aquaculture techniques, and I am eager to apply what I’ve learned in a real-world setting.
In addition to my studies, I bring over 20 years of professional experience in custom services and distribution. This background has sharpened my organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to support complex operations efficiently and reliably. I am a hardworking, quick learner who is truly enthusiastic about algae and aquaculture, and I would be thrilled to contribute meaningfully to your team while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

@sarajo_71 Hi, Sara: Are you looking for something in the Ferndale/Bellingham region, elsewhere in Washington, or wherever an opportunity is available? Companies like Taylor Shellfish (WA), Hog Island Oyster Co (CA), Island Creek Oysters (MA), may be a good place to look for intern and apprenticeship opportunities. The Pacific Shellfish Growers Association or East Coast Shellfish Growers Association Listservs might also be a good resource for you. Also consider connecting with @riley_starks33 and @larry_mellum5154 with Lummi Island Sea Greens. I do have the availability to travel for the month of August and would consider any location especially a seaweed nursery.
